I am an Artist living and working in Brighton. Originally from Derbyshire and I studied Fine Art at Manchester Polytechnic from 1987-1990. I specialised in painting, drawing inspiration from my own domestic environment.
I am a collector of things and have many objects that have significant sentimental value to me.. The idea of environment and home and the comfort of that space is important to me. And the objects in it have great personal value, more than monetary.
Charity shop finds and car boot sale purchases, flowers out of the garden, collected and inherited things all make it into my paintings which are about colour, shape, and often a collection of objects that does not obviously connect in any way. The joy in the pattern on a mug, the shape of a bowl and the simple things in life that we are all so familiar with and that is in all of our homes.
